International Geriatric Fracture Society

Welcome to the International Geriatric Fracture Society

Our organization was founded on the need to tackle one of society’s looming health care crises through collaboration and distribution of proven principles and protocols for the treatment of geriatric fractures.

Our strategy is to promote the use of order sets and treatment protocols that have proven results. We look forward to the continued distribution of these concepts through:
  • Multi-Center Research Projects
  • Publication of our Journal Distance Learning Opportunities
  • Annual Meetings

The IGFS is extremely pleased to announce that we have officially become the
US Chapter of the Fragility Fracture Network (FFN), FFN USA.  This exciting new collaboration will deliver additional educational programming and resources to IGFS members as we strive to advance Geriatric Fracture Care in partnership with the FFN.

The FFN recognizes that clinical change takes place at a national level and as such they have formed strategic partnerships with organizations that have an interest and mandate to improve care for patients with fragility fractures in their jurisdictions.

In recognition of this partnership, the IGFS has decided to significantly reduce our annual membership dues in an effort to expand our movement throughout the US. Membership in the IGFS is now $50 for all clinicians. And remains free for trainees.

Membership in the FFN is free, so IGFS members will simply have to register for the FFN to start to receive enhanced benefits.

Membership in IGFS/FFN USA and FFN Globally is open to any professional that has an interest in joining our cause. That includes: orthopaedics, geriatrics, endocrinologists, rheumatologists, and other physicians that provide geriatric care e.g., internal medicine; Rehabilitation: physiotherapy; occupational therapy; physiatry; Nursing; Dieticians; Scientists involved in study of post fracture care and practices; and others involved in improving care for fracture patients.

Your IGFS is extremely pleased with the promise this new partnership holds and we look forward to maximizing its impact on fracture care delivery in the US.

IGFS Core Certification

The International Geriatric Fracture Society (IGFS) developed this certification program for Geriatric Fracture Care Programs in order to promote an interdisciplinary approach to a growing health problem world-wide. The certification process, and ongoing performance measurement, help organizations to decrease variability of care, increase quality, improve patient outcomes, and strengthen the team dynamics within your organization.
