AI Applications in Medical Practice Management

BONUS EPISODE: Dr. Laura-Kathryn Neal and Joe Daraskevich are joined by Fraser Cobbe to talk about all the AI tools that were discussed throughout the series. Viewers are encouraged to skip through this bonus episode to hear quick recaps and helpful insights that can help medical practices with their daily tasks. It's also a good idea to go back to listen to each episode for more details, along with the show notes.

Dr. Laura-Kathryn Neal and Joe Daraskevich spend the 10th episode of the AI podcast series talking about some of the best ways to turn patient feedback into action. Dr. Neal begins by breaking down the challenges medical practices face when feedback is involved. A lot of times offices experience an information overload, especially when staff members are trying to process data manually. It's also hard to analyze data in real time, which means by the time an issue is apparent it's too late to implement a change. An easy way to tackle a lot of those common issues is by using MonkeyLearn. Dr. Neal explains how the free version provides basic sentiment analysis for up to 300 texts per month. For most small- to medium-sized practices, that's plenty to get started. The visual reporting is also a really handy way to show digest complicated data. MonkeyLearn is also great for categorizing patient comments and spotting trending issues. Most people can think back to a time when a big change was made without data to support it. With MonkeyLearn, it's a lot easier to show the reasons behind a change and to make those changes quickly before a problem gets out of control.

The ninth episode takes a closer look at Trello and how the available AI tools can be helpful with performance management. Dr. Laura-Kathryn Neal and Joe Daraskevich begin by breaking down some of the challenges managers face throughout the evaluation process. Dr. Neal shows how the performance hub can be helpful for gathering all the relevant information in one place. The Butler feature helps with automation, using AI to keep everything on track. Dr. Neal also explains the STAR Method, which stands for Situation, Task, Action, Result. Data shows that method increases objectivity by 82%. Next, Dr. Neal demonstrates an exercise in gender bias, showing how certain words are more masculine while other words are more feminine. Using a gender decoder can ensure language is not leaning one way or another. They close the episode by showing the best way to set everything up and how to quickly implement the system in the workplace.
Episode 8 (Members Only)
While most people know a little about Zoom, not everyone is utilizing all the tools the program has to offer. There are a lot of helpful features and new artificial intelligence that can take a medical practice to the next level. Dr. Laura-Kathryn Neal and Joe Daraskevich spend the eighth episode explaining how Zoom can help with the complexity of scheduling, team engagement, training an more. The co-hosts tell a few stories from their own lives that will serve as good reminders of what to do, and not do, over Zoom. Of course there are reasons some practices would want to spend part of their budget to utilize extra enhancements for Zoom. Dr. Neal wraps up the episode by running through a few of those options. As always, feel free to leave comments below if you have any questions! Show Notes
Episode 7
Dr. Laura-Kathryn Neal and Joe Daraskevich spend the seventh episode in the A.I. podcast series talking about Grammarly and how the tool can make communication more professional in a medical practice. The hosts start by pointing out some quick tricks to enhance the clarity and professionalism in email communications by helping with clear subject lines, structured content and a professional tone. Grammarly offers corrections in real time. That can be really helpful if you don’t have another set of eyes to proofread or edit content. The instant feedback can help you quickly adjust your spelling and punctuation, but it can also enhance your vocabulary by suggesting synonyms and phrases to improve impact. Dr. Neal explains how people who tend to be too wordy can benefit from the Grammarly features that make writing more concise. On the other side of the coin, content that is too brief can be lengthened with similar tools. Try using Grammarly along with the other platforms discussed in previous episodes and let us know if you have any questions by leaving a comment.  Show Notes

The third episode in the 10-part podcast series on artificial intelligence focuses on Canva and how the platform can help streamline medical practice operations. Dr. Laura-Kathryn Neal and Joe Daraskevich begin by explaining Canva is a user-friendly program that can create complex designs with little or no experience necessary. Physicians and practice managers can spend as little or as much time as they want on individual designs, but the AI feature speeds up the process significantly. Canva's library of templates has something for everyone, whether users are looking for a silly theme or something more serious. Dr. Neal suggests starting off by creating some helpful infographics that can be shared with patients or others outside the medical field. That can help make hard-to-understand topics much easier to comprehend. From there, there are several possibilities to help streamline office operations. Social media graphics, office signage and appointment cards can all be enhanced with Canva. Remember, each episode focuses on a new topic but some of the skills from previous episodes, like the one on ChatGPT, can be helpful as the series moves forward. Give Canva a try and let us know what you think!  Show Notes
