MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE OVERVIEW

Daniel Mendelson, MD - Chair – (IGFS Secretary) 

 

Purpose Statement 

The Membership Committee shall be responsible for developing strategies for identifying and recruiting new members for the organization. 

 

Charges 

  • Review the current membership roster for the organization on a periodic basis.
  • Identify strategies for targeting membership from all constituencies as well as targeted segments of the potential membership including geriatricians, anesthesia, residents, fellows, and affiliate members.
  • Develop an action plan for reaching the membership requirement threshold required for AAOS recognition (100 active fellows)
  • Present recommendations and report progress to the Board of Directors on a routine basis.  


PATIENT SAFETY, QUALITY AND CERTIFICATION COMMITTEE OVERVIEW

Purpose Statement 

The Committee shall be responsible for developing, reviewing and updating protocols and definitions for the treatment of geriatric fractures and the administration and advancement of the CORE Certification Program.

 

Charges

  • Review the CORE Certification Program Manual on a periodic basis and make recommendations for adjustments in the benchmarks, definitions, and other program features as needed.
  • Develop an action plan for expanding the Certification Program in targeted geographic areas around the globe.
  • Review trends and best practices collected through the Certification Program to recommend research or investigation to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of Geriatric Fracture Care Programs.
  • Present recommendations and report progress to the Board of Directors on a routine basis.

Purpose Statement 

The Committee shall be responsible for: coordinating the educational programming for the association including symposium, print, and online educational opportunities;  managing our partnership with the official Journal of the organization; and shall facilitate communications and initiatives with geriatric fracture Fellowship programs. 

Charges

  • Develop the educational program for all IGFS meetings throughout the year.
  • Develop an action plan for reaching the required CME offerings for the IGFS to secure recognition from the AAOS.
  • Initiate collaborative discussions with the editorial board and leadership of the GOS Journal to advance readership and submissions.
  • Collaborate with the Certification Committee to identify areas for additional investigation presented through the collection of outcome and performance data through the Certification Program.
  • Facilitate communications with the Fellowship program to identify partnerships and opportunities for the IGFS to assist in the advancement and development of the Fellowship programs.
  • Present recommendations and report progress to the Board of Directors on a routine basis.
